Fees

Every job, and what it leaves out

One fixed fee for each kind of work, with a written scope. Each card says what moves the fee.

  • Contract and brand-deal review

One contract of up to 20 pages, or a sponsorship or ambassador agreement. The fee follows the length and how many terms need checking.

    • Summary of the clauses that matter

    • A call to walk through it

    • Marked-up edits you can send back

    • Usage rights, exclusivity and payment checked on a brand deal

    Send a contract
  • Company setup

An LLC for your band, studio or channel, with the paper that keeps the money straight. The fee follows the number of members and how the splits work.

    • Formation filing prepared

    • Operating agreement with split terms

    • Work-for-hire and collaborator templates

    Start a company
  • Copyright registration

An application prepared and filed for songs, scripts, books or a finished film. The fee follows how many works go in one filing.

    • Application prepared and filed

    • Deposit copy checklist

    Register a work
  • Trademark filing

A name or logo searched, then filed for one class of goods or services. Each extra class adds to the fee.

    • Search for conflicts before filing

    • Application prepared and filed

    Protect a name

Government fees are paid to the agency. Anything outside a job's scope is quoted in writing before it starts.

Never inside a fixed fee

Four things sit outside every package. We name them so the fee you are quoted is the fee you pay for the work described.

  • Government fees

Filing fees for formation, copyright and trademark go to the agency and are paid at the time of filing.

  • Negotiation

Talking with the other side is quoted in writing before it starts, so you decide whether to buy it.

  • Court cases

Lawsuits are billed differently. If you need one we say so and help you find the right lawyer.

  • Tax advice

How a deal is taxed is a question for your accountant. We tell you when to ask it.

About billing

Is the fee really fixed?

For the work in the scope, yes. If a contract runs past 20 pages or a deal changes after we have started, we tell you the new fee in writing and wait for your yes.

Can I pay by the month?

Ask when you write. We can usually split a larger fee into two payments.

What if I only have one question?

Write to us. If it is a short one we will answer it or say which job it belongs in before you pay for anything.

Start with the contract in front of you

Tell us what it is and when it is due. We reply with the package that fits and the fee, in writing.
